Many questions cross your mind when watching a MAFS wedding: ‘Why would anyone sign up this this?’, ‘Do they really expect to find love?’ and ‘How much do they get to spend on their wedding dress?’. Well, Bec sat down with WHO to answer all of your burning questions about the wedding budget, engagement rings, and of course, the dress.
Revealing that producers gave her “full control” when choosing her dress, Bec said it was a “hefty budget for a wedding to a stranger.”
The process of choosing a wedding dress on MAFS
Bec explained what the process was like picking her wedding dress for MAFS.
“We go in, try on dress options and choose the three that we love the most and send them through,” she told WHO.
According to Bec, producers were “nothing but completely and utterly supportive” of her decisions.
She gushed: “I fell in love with my dress, and thought it was quite demure. My father was walking me down the aisle so I didn’t want it to be booby or sl**ty.”
“They said, ‘If you feel confident in it, that’s what we want you in,’ but I did have to give them options” she explained.
What is the budget for MAFS wedding dresses?
According to Bec, she was given $2,500 to purchase her dress, and thankfully hers was on sale so came in right under budget!
However, that doesn’t mean she didn’t have her eye on a pricier one to begin with.
“I mean, the first one I tried on was $7,000, and I was like, ‘Dad, help me,’ but he said ‘absolutely not,’ so I had to keep it in budget.”
Bec decided not to wear her original dress for the wedding she called off, years prior to going on the experiment.
“I’ve got a $20,000 Marquesa wedding dress that I didn’t wear in my spare room” she said, speaking about the dress she planned to wear to her first wedding before she cancelled it.
Do MAFS brides get to keep the wedding dress and ring?
Although reality TV may be fake to some people, the wedding dresses and diamond rings are very much real, and oftentimes very sentimental to the brides.
“We get to keep the dress and our diamond wedding rings, it’s not like they take it from us after filming, they let us keep everything.”
Do MAFS brides get to pick their wedding rings?
Bec explained that, while they get to pick their dress, they have no say about their wedding rings.
“We get sized up and that’s that,” she said.
Why do some brides get bigger wedding rings on MAFS?
Speaking about the very obvious fact that some brides got bigger rocks than others, Bec gave a very simple explanation.
“I’ve got one of the smallest rings out of the brides, but I also got to go to Fiji for a week. So you win some, you lose some!”
