These boys describe themselves as brothers from two different mothers – but that doesn’t mean they’re one and the same.
“[We are] chosen brothers – we are very in tune with one another, and spiritually we share many of the same values,” says G, who is studying financial planning, and who first met Victor when they worked together as bartenders.
“We both learn a lot from one another whilst we are complete opposites in many ways.”
“I am super stoked to be on here with my homie,” says Victor, who has a law degree, but now works in hospitality. “G is the yin to my yang.
“We share a lot of commonalities and an interest in food. You can definitely expect some bangers from us!”
Their cultural backgrounds are similar, and the two hospitality workers plan on showcasing Indian and Asian flavours in their restaurant.
“Our cooking is based on our heritage, but we want to be experimental,” explains G. “My food culture is Malaysian, Indian, Chinese.”
“I’ve got a Malaysian/Indian mum, but I grew up in Switzerland,” says Victor. “You put it all together and you get ‘Eurasian’.”
These two self-confessed jokesters – G is currently single, while Victor has a girlfriend – don’t mind stirring the pot, and say they’re looking forward to having some fun with their fellow contestants.
“I love challenging people’s ideas of the conventional,” says Victor. “I can be quite intense at times, but I like to have fun with everything. I dislike monotony and I love the unexpected – that’s what life is for me.”
So what made them decide they wanted to be a part of the show?
“Casting found me online on ‘Melbourne Bartender Exchange’ and encouraged me to apply,” says Victor. “Whilst I was sceptical at first, I decided to dive in and G jumped on board with me.”
“Victor asked if I’d like to join him and I said ,“Oh HEEEEH YEAH, BABY!”
“Our team will bring great energy, a few jokes, some accents and some delicious food,” Victor says. “Food which will challenge people – we want to bring novelty, originality and creativity.”
“[And] hopefully some great food and a sense of humour to lighten things,” says G. “We want people to have fun and know that the Melbourne ‘hospo’ scene is full of fun when they visit our city.”
