Former The Bachelor Australia star Anna Heinrich’s latest reality TV stint came to an end last night when she voluntarily withdrew from the SAS Australia course.
Anna surprised DS Ant Middleton, her fellow recruits, and audiences everywhere with her brute strength, grit, and utter determination to push through the course.
Last night, she revealed the depth of her injuries on Instagram, sharing a carousel of images showing her many, many bruises.
“The night I came off the course,” she captioned it. “I was exhausted, depleted, I was battered and bruised but extremely proud.”
The photos showed grazing to Anna’s elbow and bruising up and down both legs.
She also looked to have lost a bit of weight, given the recruit’s diet of mostly porridge while on the course.
Friends and fans of Anna were quick to share their support in the comments.
“Far out! YOUCH!! Week done Anna!” wrote Ash Pollard.
“WARRIOR WOMAN!!! Such a powerful being,” commented Ali Oetjen, who starred on the same season of The Bachelor as Anna.
“Battle wounds! And wow, did you battle!” DS Ollie Ollerton wrote.
Anna’s decision to withdraw came just after she’d survived a culling that saw Ebanie Bridges booted from the challenge.
The remaining recruits were told to submerge themselves in icy water, and having had a run in with a similar challenge that saw her exhibiting symptoms of hypothermia just the night before, Anna withdrew.
“I think it’s my time … I can’t do this anymore,” she told DS Ant Middleton.
“I feel like I’ve given it my absolute all, and I’m really proud of myself.”
Anna wrote about the experience on Instagram after her final episode aired.
“It’s always hard to know where to start writing when you’ve gone through an experience like @sasaustralia. I’d seen the show in the past and had always said “I would never go on a show like that”,” she shared.
“I didn’t think I was capable, was scared of failing and felt it was easier to just continue cruising.
“It was my husband @mrtimrobards who believed in me when I didn’t and encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and do what I didn’t think was possible. I had four weeks to train and that’s exactly what I did.”
She went on to thank the DS on the show for “pushing me beyond what I thought was achievable”.
“I came away with so much more than bruises and scratches,” she finished.
Anna is best known for her stint on The Bachelor, where she met – and later married – Tim Robards.
Audiences got to see their love first-hand once again on SAS Australia, when Anna watched a video sent in by Tim and her baby daughter, Elle, sharing their pride and support.
Tim helped Anna train for SAS Australia, with the pair only having four weeks to get her ready to go.
“I know how strong Anna is. How resilient she is and how much inner strength she has, and I knew if she decided to set her mind to it, she would give it everything,” Tim told WHO.
“Whatever happens Daddy and Elle are extremely proud, slightly jealous, but also slightly relieved that it’s not us,” he added.
