Brooke Blurton has officially become Australia’s first bisexual Bachelorette and we are beyond thrilled for the perfect, albeit late, casting choice.
However, Brooke wasn’t the first bisexual reality star to be in the running for the gig.

Back in 2018, Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise star Megan Marx, 32, told NW that she was supposed to be the first bisexual Bachelorette before she was replaced with Sophie Monk.
“I was meant to be the Bachelorette on Sophie [Monk]’s season as they wanted someone bisexual,” the 32-year-old said at the time.
“But then Sophie asked if she could do the show and she was awesome and maybe I wasn’t ready.”
The star went on to spill about how exactly the show would work, explaining, “It was in the early stages [of planning], but it would have been mainly guys and a few girls in the mansion”.
After rejecting a rose from Richie Strahan on the 2016 version of The Bachelor, Megan left the mansion and struck up a post-show romance with fellow contestant Tiffany Scanlon.
The women dated until March 2017, even moving to Bali to start a new life together, before Megan announced their split via Instagram.
Speaking to the So Dramatic! podcast earlier this year, Megan confessed the breakup was a “disaster.”
“We’ve never really talked about it,” Megan began. “When you first meet someone you show all of your best self to that person; on the outside we both liked adventure and were ‘yes’ people to new things.”
“Basically we ended up really not liking each other as human beings. It was just a disaster.”
After that Bachie romance came to an end, Megan packed her bags and headed for Fiji to star on the first season of Bachelor In Paradise. It was here that she met Jake Ellis from Georgia Love’s season of The Bachelorette.
There were instant sparks between the two and the pair eventually left paradise together.
After that, Megan and Jake had an on-and-off again relationship which eventually came to an end in 2019.
Speaking to the Daily Mail Australia about the breakup, Megan revealed that the couple were done for good.
“I’m really glad that we tried again, just to make sure, but when it doesn’t work out… And I’ve never done this before. If it doesn’t work out, it’s over,” she told the publication.
“I think, if it’s this hard… It shouldn’t be this hard. It’s a slog. If it just makes you both unhappy, what’s the point of that?”
Megan added: “He was so confident that we were meant to be and he fought really hard for it and there were things in our relationship that I wasn’t happy with and he said that he would change and give it another go. I felt like I owed it to him, to the relationship and to myself to try again.”
