Married At First Sight may be about finding ‘The One,’ but let’s be real – some of the best relationships to come out of the show aren’t romantic at all.
Over the years, we’ve seen fiery feuds, unlikely alliances, and friendships so strong they spawn podcasts, collabs, and even post-MAFS business ventures. (RIP to those friendships that didn’t survive past the reunion special.)
Now that we’re deep into the 2025 season, it’s time to investigate: which MAFS contestants are still BFFs, and which ones are pretending their co-stars don’t exist?
The Core Four: MAFS’ strongest friendship group
Despite all the dinner party drama and tears over “being here for the right reasons,” a solid crew has formed within the cast. According to MAFS Funny Podcast host Joshua Fox, the main friendship group—dubbed the Core Four—consists of Jamie Marinos, Awhina Rutene, Carina Mirabile, and Rhi Disljenkovic.
They were thick as thieves for most of the experiment, but—plot twist—Jamie and Carina’s friendship took a major hit after their heated exchange over Lauren Hall’s behaviour at the couples’ retreat. While Jamie has hinted that she’s over it, she’s also made it clear that Carina “doesn’t know how to be a friend.”
Meanwhile, Awhina and Rhi seem to be avoiding the drama, still hanging out and proving that some friendships can survive reality TV.
Who isn’t friends on Married at First Sight?
And now for the ones who didn’t make the group chat. According to Fox, the biggest outsiders of the season are Jacqui Burfoot, Lauren Hall, and Sierah Swepstone.
Lauren’s controversial behaviour at the couples’ retreat didn’t exactly win her any fans, and after that, it seems like she got cut out of most post-show friendships. Even Carina, who initially had her back, distanced herself from the drama.
Interestingly, Morena Farina is also reportedly on the fringes of the cast but is still in touch with a few of the brides. Meanwhile, intruder bride Victoria Cloherty apparently left the experiment with just one close friend – Carina.
Are Jamie and Carina still friends?
Short answer? No. Long answer? Absolutely not.
After their explosive dinner party fallout, Jamie made it clear that she doesn’t consider Carina a true friend. “She’s proved the type of friend she is, so I don’t need that,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.
While Carina hasn’t said much about the situation, Jamie has repeatedly hinted that she feels gaslit by her former bestie and doesn’t believe she’s taken accountability for her actions.
Jamie also told PEDESTRIAN.TV that she believes Carina isn’t “really interested in having friendships with the cast”.
“Carina, I’m sure if there’s like a pap photo or something, she might be there, or a girl’s reunion, she might be there. But you know, she’s not someone who reaches out or checks in or anything like that,” she explained.
As always, MAFS friendships are as unpredictable as the marriages themselves. While some cast members will be ride-or-dies for years to come, others are already unfollowing each other on Instagram.
At least we’ll always have the group vacations, sponsored partnerships, and juicy podcast episodes to keep us entertained long after the final vows.
