My Kitchen Rules has served up some serious drama so far, as controversial contestants clash at the dinner table.

Food stylist Jane and her husband Shane from the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, have already ruffled some feathers in the first two episodes of the season with their ‘tasting, not eating’ philosophy, harsh and blunt critiques about the food and plating, and conversation about travel.

This caused some tension at the table as outspoken Adelaide besties Alisha and Deanne clashed with this classy couple.

However, it turns out Jane and Shane weren’t the only ones being unnecessarily harsh with their feedback.

Speaking to WHO, Angus and Simon revealed that all the contestants, not just Jane, were very “critical” with their scoring.

For a show that’s meant to celebrate home cooking, naturally, this came as a shock.

Angus and Simon were surprised by everyone’s scoring

Best mates from Adelaide, Angus and Simon, told WHO about their scoring strategy.

“Have we ever stuck to an agreed strategy or criteria? Not really,” the pair joked. “Really and truly. I mean, in the first round, we just tried to be as honest, fair and respectful to the other teams with our scoring.

“And we were; it was lucky. Simon and I pretty much had the same number in our heads every time.”

However, they were surprised that not everyone was as respectful so early on.

“But we just thought, especially early on in the competition, people were quite critical very early,” they revealed. “Which I didn’t think was fair because you’ve never seen anyone else cook.

“And so we tried to just err on the side of positivity to start with.

“Say, look, ‘This was pretty good if we think about it. Was it amazing? No. But it was pretty solid all around. No major mistakes. Just a bit of seasoning would have helped it. But to me, that’s a seven.’

“Whereas to other people, yeah, that’s a lot worse.”
