My Kitchen Rules has continued to deliver the all-too-relatable drama and chaos that come with cooking and hosting.
Amid the controversy with certain contestants preferring to ‘taste, not eat’ and judging the plates rather than the food, fans have started to notice an interesting detail in the kitchen — one they believe is setting contestants up to fail.
During Alisha and Deanne’s Instant Restaurant, the Adelaide besties ran into multiple roadblocks. From overcooking their scallops to dropping their sticky date pudding, the contestants had to step away from the kitchen to breathe and reset.
However, fans have pointed out that there is a simple production reason responsible for this.
Fans believe Alisha and Deanne weren’t actually in their house
After seeing Alisha and Deanne so flustered in the kitchen, many viewers questioned if the friends were even hosting in their own kitchen.
“After watching this episode, it seems fairly obvious that this: 1) wasn’t either girls house, 2) they were using equipment given to them to use, which they weren’t familiar with, 3) both,” one fan wrote online. “They didn’t know how to use the Ninja air fryer. They didn’t know how to turn on the stand mixer. They didn’t put the wire racks in the oven — which is why they tipped the puddings onto the floor.”
“Was thinking the same thing,” another replied. “This sets you up to fail, so they did ok considering.”
However, these observations weren’t as astute as viewers thought, with many fans revealing that this behind-the-scenes production secret is common knowledge.
“Of course. Common knowledge is that they often use other places,” one fan commented.
“Yes, if they don’t have a suitable house, they have their instant elsewhere,” another seconded. “It’s always been a thing.”
“You would think that the producers would allow the contestants to get familiar with where they will be cooking and the oven, utensils etc.,” a third questioned. “How ridiculous. In my opinion, I think it is totally unfair.”

My Kitchen Rules fans rally behind Alisha and Deanne after ‘unfair’ strategic scoring
From the start of the competition, Alisha and Deanne have been misjudged for their personalities, with many of the other contestants admitting outright that they believe they will come last just because they have a chaotic energy.
“There are a lot of people that are like mine and Dee’s personality, just out there, having a laugh, saying whatever,” Alisha told WHO. “We’re not sitting there knowing that this is going to air on TV and we’re trying to be people that we’re not.
“We’re exactly who we are on the show. I think some people maybe went on [the show] trying to, you know, hold themselves in a different way and stuff as well.”
Despite the other contestants judging these “boganistic besties” for their big personalities, fans have been defending them online, pointing out that the other teams may already be voting “strategically” to remove any competition.
“The girls are down to earth, great, no airs or graces,” one fan wrote. “Their food looked great, tasty, but [I] believe in the judges, some of the other contestants judge a little lower for fear of being ousted.”
“The girls are a bit loud but their cooking was good!” another agreed. “Looks like people are scoring strategically already and not really on what they’ve eaten. What a shame, I think they deserved more.”
From cooking in a new environment to receiving “unfair” scoring, Alisha and Deanne have been fighting an uphill battle. But after watching them on My Kitchen Rules 2026, we know they won’t be going down without a fight!
