Round Two of My Kitchen Rules 2026 has almost reached its end, but the chaos has only just started heating up! In Angus and Simon’s second Instant Restaurant, their dinner table clashes from the past followed them into the kitchen.
While fans are used to seeing Colin interrupt the chefs mid-cook, rarely do we see contestants barge in midway through dinner.
We’ve already had a walkout this year on My Kitchen Rules, and during Simon and Angus’ Instant Restaurant, we witnessed our first walk-in.
Speaking to WHO, Angus and Simon unpacked the behind-the-scenes details of this moment, detailing why it only fed their hunger for revenge.
Why did Zoe walk in on Angus and Simon in the kitchen?
Zoe has been clashing with Angus and Simon since she first arrived in the competition. Her pescatarian dietary requirements rubbed the Adelaide best mates the wrong way, prompting them to constantly question her about her motivations for being on the show.
During Alisha and Deanne’s Instant Restaurant, Simon called Zoe the “weakest link”, after which Zoe demanded an “apology”.
While the boys did cook her entrée without duck oil, describing the act as an “olive branch”, the other contestants weren’t so convinced. Hence, when Angus and Simon returned to the kitchen, everyone encouraged Zoe to walk in on them while they were cooking and ask for an apology.
“Hope you cooked up an apology,” Zoe said to a flustered Simon as he cooked lamb on the barbecue, before asking them if they could guarantee her an apology at dessert.
While the other contestants were overjoyed with this move, clapping her back to the table, Angus and Simon had a different reaction.

Angus and Simon expose production influence: ‘It was actually really insensitive’
The best mates told WHO that the whole move was “really insensitive”.
“Look, words at the table are one thing, but actually going into someone’s kitchen in the middle of them cooking is something completely else,” Simon said.
Although he added that “there’s a little bit of payback to get back at Zoe [during their Instant Restaurant]”.
“She started that war,” he said.
The contestants also revealed the level of production involvement that would have had to occur to make this walk-in moment possible.
“I’ll be honest here, she would have been posed the question, ‘Would you like to do this?'” Simon explained. “She can’t obviously get a follow with the camera and that [without being asked]. So she said, ‘Yes, I should. Yes, I should be in there. I should be trying to get an apology.’
“I’ve got 50 lamb cutlets on the barbecue, and some of them [are] overcooked because I’m having to sit there and film her go through some very unusual performance about wanting an apology.”
Simon added: “It’s like, ‘Mate, get out of here, go back to the table, be a normal guest!”
