It’s almost time for The Block 2026 auctions, and the pressure has certainly reached an all-time high for contestants.
As Landscaping Week came to a close on Sunday night, fan gripes about the contestants and the show’s format returned, with “design blunders” and relationship drama rearing their heads before the winner of the week was announced.
This was especially apparent between Adam and Jolene, as tension built around the access point in their yard to Houses 2 and 3.
Jolene spoke to WHO earlier in the season about the “pressure” of the show, and how much their early and average success caused them stress to “keep consistency [and] to excel in getting to the top”.
Despite being successful in that mission and being one of the major contenders this season, it’s no surprise that kind of pressure has resulted in conflict between the married couple.
Jolene reached her breaking point and snapped at Adam, resulting in a cheeky comment that definitely caught fans’ attention — and lost him some admirers.
What four words did Adam say on The Block?
Throughout Landscaping Week, the houses have been clashing as Houses 1 (Adam and Jolene), 2 (Chantel and Wyatt) and 3 (Lisa and Rosco) have had their supplies dumped at an empty lot beside Adam and Jolene’s house.
This has meant that House 2 and 3 only had access to supplies for their landscaping through an access point at Adam and Jolene’s house.
While Jolene kept asking Adam to block off the access point so they could finish their landscaping, Adam wouldn’t (much to the delight of the other houses). Eventually, they did block it off, forcing Houses 2 and 3 to share a crane to get their supplies.
As expected, Jolene was annoyed with Adam for taking so long to block off the access and delaying their own work to benefit the others.
A producer spoke to Adam about this moment, asking him, “Isn’t it happy wife, happy life?”
However, in response, Adam said four words that riled up the viewers.
“Not in my world,” Adam replied.
The Block fans divided over Adam’s comment
After seeing Adam and Jolene clash in this way, fans had quite a few opinions about their relationship.
“I don’t get their relationship; she let him let their competitors keep coming through until 3:36 pm, when their whole garden had to be done by 5 pm.”
“Agree, the body language says it all,” another user chimed in. “I would have cracked lol.”
“I didn’t blame Jolene for being angry,” one fan commented. “Adam really let her down this week.”
“Adam lost a lot of points with me,” another viewer agreed. “Stubborn people often stick to ridiculous decisions.”
Was this plotline ‘staged’ to create last minute drama?
However, not everyone was feeding into the drama, with many fans claiming that it was “staged by producers” for last minute entertainment.
“She could have told the tradies to close it off…” one viewer suggested. “It’s all for the cameras.”
“It was so staged by the producers,” another agreed. “They let her get to that point, and I believe they had less control over the entry and were each manipulated, and so was the editing.”
Either way, it seems the access point being on Adam and Jolene’s property wasn’t a blessing but a curse.
