The hit Netflix sci-fi series has released its final season this year, officially bringing the long-running mysteries and chaos of Hawkins to an end.
The first four episodes are now streaming- but if you’re itching to find out what happens next and need a date and time to set in your calendar, we’ve got you covered!
When does Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 drop?
Thankfully, we didn’t have long to wait after that jaw-dropping first volume.
Volume 2 of the final season of Stranger Things arrived on Christmas Day (December 25th) at 5pm PT. For us over here in Australia though, that means Boxing Day (26th December) at 12pm AEDT.
What’s more, the final ever episode will be a whopping two hours and five minutes long and will be available to stream on New Year’s Eve (December 31st) at 5pm PT. Aussies, that means New Year’s Day (January 1st) at 12pm AEDT.
What happened in Season 5 Volume 1?
The fifth season kicked off in the fall of 1987, with the government placing the Indiana town of Hawkins under military quarantine and forcing Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) back into hiding. Their mission to find and defeat Vecna is proving difficult, especially with the anniversary of Will’s (Noah Schnapp) disappearance approaching.
Meanwhile, Eleven and Hopper (David Harbour) launch a rescue mission that leads them to Kali and Max (Sadie Sink) who are alive but stuck in a “mind prison” inside Vecna’s psyche alongside Mike and Nancy Wheeler’s little sister Holly.

What will happen in Volume 2?
Perhaps the biggest bombshell that Volume 1 ended on was Will’s ability to channel his mysterious new powers.
“We’ve always known that Will has a connection to Vecna and the Upside Down,” the show’s co-creator, executive producer, writer, and director Ross Duffer said.
“In Season 2, we started to delve into it, but one of the earliest ideas in the new season is, ‘What if Will were able to harness this connection and use it against our villains?’ We also felt it very natural to re-centre the story on Will. He was the kid who was taken in Season 1, so it felt right for the story to come full circle. If anyone [was] going to be the key to ending Vecna, it needed to be Will.”
The trailer also showed a moment between Steve (Joe Keery) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) where they tell each other “You die, I die,” so we could be in for some emotional moments too!
