The team, which is one of the oldest professional football teams in the world, played a nailbiting season in the National League under their new owners Ryan McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, going neck-to-neck with Notts County to win the league and get promoted to League Two.
New players, two seasons of a Disney Documentary series and several celebrity cameos later, history was made and the Welsh team were promoted for the first time in 15 years.

Lucky for fans, FX confirmed the show would be renewed for a third season in November 2023, just as Season Two wrapped airing.
“The wild global success of Welcome to Wrexham is a testament to the courage and vision of Rob and Ryan, the dogged spirit of the Red Dragons, and the hope and devotion of the people of Wrexham,” said Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment said at the time. “It’s a story that has only begun to be told and one that everyone can continue to follow along with in the third season. Our thanks to the creative team who captured these thrilling moments and everyone who achieved what seemed impossible only a short time ago.”

Similar to the previous seasons, the upcoming season of Welcome to Wrexham will likely centre around the 2023-24 season, which sees the team compete in League Two.
