All five of The Block houses sold this year, but none of the auctions were as impressive as Courtney and Sev’s. They have copped a lot of backlash online, but love them or hate them, they played the game exceptionally well and are now, officially, the most successful contestants in the show’s history.
They walked away with $1.87 million between them after Kevin Unali, a local man, bought their renovated property for $4.72 million.
He reportedly plans to use it as a weekender and a second home for extended family, explaining he was adamant he would outbid everyone else and nab the multimillion property for himself.
Courtney and Sev shared some little-known details about the mystery buyer with WHO, and revealed a promise he made to them.
Courtney and Sev’s offer to the new buyers
After the record-breaking auction, Courtney and Sev told WHO what Kevin said about their house, and why he was so hellbent on clinching it over the other buyers.
“Their biggest message to us was, you know, you guys poured your heart and souls into it. You played a really hard competition, and that’s what we loved about you guys,” the women said about the new buyers, seemingly referring to Kevin and his partner.
As the auction took place on Saturday and was aired Sunday night, the women actually invited Kevin and his partner to join them while watching the show back.
“We’ve actually been really lucky to host them for the last two nights. They came in and watched it with us… which was really special.”
The buyer’s promise to Courtney and Sev
The contestants and the new buyers have become fast friends, and Kevin even agreed to let them stay at the property from time to time.
“I think we’ll have a lifelong connection with them because they are an owner-occupier and we have, you know, aggressively invited ourselves to big, like, slumber parties in households,” they laughed, saying they’ll hold them to their word.
