Courtney and Sev may have walked away from The Block with the biggest prize in the show’s history, but not everyone is celebrating their win.

The best friends from Brisbane sold their House Four property for $4.72 million, making a $1.27 million profit above reserve. They also took home the $100,000 winners prize and the $500,000 Plungie prize pool, bringing their total haul to around $1.87 million.

But their victory hasn’t stopped the criticism. Throughout the season, viewers questioned whether the girls received special treatment, with cheating accusations and complaints about their trades, budget and controversial wine cellar deal following them all the way to auction.

And now, their decision to donate $75,000 to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity has sparked another round of debate.

After announcing the donation on Sunrise, the pair were praised by some viewers, while others questioned why they had made the gesture public. Some even argued that a donation should have been kept anonymous, rather than announced on television.

But the winners aren’t letting the online noise put them off. Speaking to WHO, Courtney and Sev revealed whether they’d return to the show. They also hinted that host Scott Cam has already floated a few possibilities for their future involvement.

The Block fans divided over Courtney and Sev’s $75K donation

Courtney and Sev announced their $75,000 donation to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity following their huge auction result.

The charity has a special connection to the girls after they hosted 18 families supported by the organisation at their house during the season. They said the experience meant so much to them that they wanted to give something back.

While plenty of viewers praised the gesture, others weren’t quite as impressed with the public announcement.

“Great humans would not have felt the need to announce it,” one viewer commented.

Another questioned whether the donation was “tax deductible”, while someone else argued that “anonymous donations have more meaning”.

Others suggested the donation was an attempt to improve the duo’s public image, with one writing: “That’s only to make them look good.”

And, of course, the criticism hasn’t been limited to the charity announcement. Some viewers are still bringing up the accusations of favouritism and rule-breaking that followed the girls throughout the season.

One viewer claimed the pair had been “handed every advantage”, pointing to the trades and budget controversies that became major talking points during the competition.

The backlash has also included plenty of people still calling the girls “cheaters” and questioning whether the auction result was fair.

Not everyone is buying into the negativity, though. Many fans defended Courtney and Sev, saying they deserved their win and that people are just struggling to see successful women come out on top.

Despite the backlash, Courtney and Sev aren’t ruling out another stint on The Block. When asked whether they’d do the show again, the girls didn’t hesitate.

“Of course we would do The Block again,” they told WHO.

And it sounds like Scott Cam may have already planted a few ideas about what comes next. The girls revealed that Scotty repeatedly dangled the possibility of future opportunities during their auction, although the timing wasn’t exactly ideal.

“I think Scotty dangled the carrot about five times during the auction of House 4. And I was like, ‘Can you stop? This is not the time to dangle the carrot. We are trying to understand what’s happening in the auction room’,” they joked.

“But yeah, we got a couple of promises thrown.”

Whether those promises turn into an actual opportunity remains to be seen, with the pair adding: “So we’ll see if he holds his word.”

For now, though, Courtney and Sev are still riding the high of their win, even as some viewers continue to question how they got there. And if Scotty does follow through on those promises, their Block story might not be over just yet.
