It’s early days yet but the countdown has officially started to when the fifth and final season of the darkly comedic and at times deeply disturbing The Boys will hit screens.
Filming began on November 25, 2024, but the cast is reportedly as much in the dark as devoted viewers are about how their characters stories will end. If the show stays true to form, we know it won’t be pretty.
Laz Alonso, who has starred throughout as Mother’s Milk, shared a photo of The Boys cast reuniting in Toronto, Canada, with the cheeky caption, “And just like that … we’re back!”
Among those gathered with Alonso were Antony Starr (Homelander), Jessie T. Usher (A-Train), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Chace Crawford (The Deep), Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir II), and Colby Minifie (Ashley Barrett).
When is Season 5 of The Boys coming out?
It’s highly unlikely we’ll be seeing Season 5 of The Boys any time before 2026. After alll, it was close to two years between when Season 4 started filming and when it hit screens.
Karl Urban hinted at the timeline too when the Season 4 finale dropped, posting to Instagram, “See you in … 2 years (wish it was sooner) for the final season.
Also, there’s a second season of spin-off Gen V to be released that will keep fans happy and then there’s The Boys: Mexico that will reportedly tie both series together.

Little is known about the final season of The Boys and not even the cast have been let in on the secret reportedly. But as Jack Quaid told RadioTimes.com anything and everything is on the table.
“It’s our last season so the writers can kind of do whatever they want which is terrifying, so I’m expecting a lot of murder!” said Quaid. “I think that’s what you can expect, probably, I don’t know, I’m just assuming.”
Is The Boys part of Gen V?
Both The Boys and Gen V are set in the same cinematic universe as one another.
