With loads of experience under their belts, knockabout tradie Norm, 40, and his radio host wife, Jess, 33, are ones to watch.
WHO: How did it feel to get on The Block?
Norm: It was huge. We had a fairly big party that night with all our neighbours and close friends that were around us! It didn’t really sink in until about five days after. It was the most incredible feeling, so unbelievable.
WHO: Have you applied before?
Jess: We applied last year for Elsternwick and when we didn’t get in, they told us to apply again next year, and now here we are!
WHO: What does it mean to both of you to be on this show and to potentially take home the winning prize?
Norm: We aren’t here to chase fame, we just want to go back to the Sunshine Coast and be ourselves again.
Jess: We want to be Jess and Norm with a smaller mortgage. We are doing this for our kids. We don’t get to see them as much as we like with so much on our plate, so hopefully if we win this will help calm us down a bit.
WHO: Was it a hard decision to leave them for the show?
Norm: Fred is only 4 and Matilda is 1 so they were having a wonderful time at Grandma’s and didn’t really know what was going on, but it was really tough for us.
Jess: We struggled with missing them a lot so we went back and saw them every chance we got. With that being said, the show definitely brought us closer together. To create something together in such a short time made us fall in love with each other all over again.
WHO: Did you find the show tough?
Jess: It was the hardest thing I have ever done, both mentally and physically. We loved it, though.
