With their home already featuring on Grand Designs Australia, prestige builder Spence, 46, and nurse Kerrie, 48, can’t wait to showcase their skills on The Block.
WHO: Going into the show, what qualities do you have that you thought might make your team a threat?
Spence: Quality and consistency. Even though it’s tough to achieve that in such a short amount of time, that was something we worked hard at.
Kerrie: We are hard workers and have faced challenges before, and things can seem surmountable if you just start them straight away. We knew we could get stuff done.
WHO: What did you struggle with on the show?
Spence: No sleep! The first three or four days you are running on basically nothing. I don’t know how we made it through alive! Towards the end—even though Saturday nights are the nights you work the hardest—I had to knock off early and start getting a few hours of sleep because I just couldn’t function.
WHO: What did you think of the other Block teams?
Spence: Sara and Hayden became good friends of ours.
Kerrie: I loved three of the other teams, and had nothing against the fourth one.
WHO: What will viewers think of you when they see you on TV?
Kerrie: That we are boring. Hans and Courtney are so funny, and Sara and Hayden are always screaming at each other.
Spence: And the girls are so dynamic, and Jess is so out there that there is no doubt we will be the boring couple on the show! It’s okay, we have come to terms with it.
