Former Gogglebox star Adam Densten has asked fans for their support in the wake of some tragic family news.
Taking to both his own Instagram account, and the one he shares with Symon Lovett, his podcast partner and former Gogglebox couch-mate, Adam shared that both his cousin and her husband – parents to three – are currently battling cancer.
He posted a screen-shot of a GoFundMe page titled ‘A Double Blow That No Young Family Can Stand’.
“This is a GoFundMe for my cousin Kirsten (funnily enough, she’s the blonde smiley mum, not the red head smiley dad, that’s Pete),” he wrote, referencing his own smiley red-headed demeanour.
“Strap yourself in because this story is pretty unbelievable. Kirsten (an absolute legend) is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment and Pete has just been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer,” he went on to explain.
“They’ve got three beautiful kids … If you can donate to help them through this unfairly tough time, I’d be forever grateful, or if you could share it, I’d be eternally thankful too,” he said, directing followers to the link on his Instagram and in his stories where people can donate.
Followers, fans and fellow celebs expressed their sadness for the situation in the comments.
“What?! Donated 😢,” wrote academic and podcaster Susan Carland.
“Sending a massive hug 🤗 you’re a gorgeous person with a massive heart. ❤️,” said Toni Pearen, who co-starred with Adam and Symon during their time on I’m a Celebrity… last year.
“Oh my gosh,” wrote Sarah Marie Fahd, a fellow Gogglebox co-star.
Many other followers said they had donated to the GoFundMe, which now has $96,607 donated out of a hopeful $200,000.
The GoFundMe details the extent of Kirsten’s ongoing recovery process, and the sad reality of Pete’s prognosis.
They are both teachers, and dedicated members of their Hobart community, but are unable to work given their current situation.
The money is intended to help them to continue supporting their children while they undergo various medical treatments.
Adam rose to fame alongside Symon when they began appearing in the early seasons of Gogglebox.
They have since launched a successful podcast, and also entered the I’m A Celebrity jungle last year to compete against the likes of Toni Pearen and Abbie Chatfield.
