BREAKING: Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry rushed to hospital

The legendary musician collapsed backstage.

On Saturday night, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry was rushed to a hospital in New York after a performance with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden.

Perry, 68, suffered from shortness of breath, according to a statement released by his spokesperson.

“Following a guest performance during Billy Joel’s show last night at Madison Square Garden, Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital,” a statement from Perry’s rep reads.
“This morning Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive. The Aerosmith guitarist will be unable to appear today at Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp in Florida and apologises to those attending. Perry is expected to return to the road later this month.”

TMZ reported that the star had just wrapped up the iconic “Walk This Way” with Joel, when he returned to his dressing room and collapsed. A

It is believed paramedics rushed to the scene and worked on Perry, 68, for approximately 40 minutes in his dressing room before transporting him to the hospital.

Joel was performing and unaware of what was happening to his friend.

Perry is said to be doing well, according to pal Eddie Trunk.

The radio host tweeted, “Sending my best to rock icon and friend @JoePerry.” 

⁦”Joe was just with me on my last radio special from LA. I’m hearing he’s doing well today thankfully! Be well Joe!!”
