Cheating scandal rocks House Rules

Leigh and Kristie sell a piece of furniture that already belonged to homeowners Mel and Dave’s.

Competitive couple Leigh and Kristie showed their true colours in tonight’s episode of House Rules when they charged Josh and Brandon $750 for the vintage sewing machine which was already in Mel and Dave’s Gold Coast home. When Brandon asked Leigh if they were planning on using it, Leigh told him that Kristie wanted to sell it. “Money talks mate, speak to the boss,” Leigh said. “I don’t know if you are allowed to sell other people’s stuff,” said Josh. “It doesn’t belong to you.”

The brothers from Queensland weren’t sure what to make of this but with the deadline for finding a statement piece looming, they decidde to chat with Kristie. “I’m a bit strapped for cash boys. I’m willing to sell it at the best price,” she said. “I feel it’s about two grand.” The boys were taken back by Kristie’s offer. “Two grand… pretty pricey for something you yank out of the house,” said Josh.

Josh can’t believe that Kristie and Leigh want money for the sewing machine.

Kristie decided to knock 50 percent off the price and asked the boys for $1000 instead but the boys offered them $750, which Leigh jumped at. But, only moments after making the purchase the boys regretted their decision to pay money for something that was already in Mel and Dave’s house before the renovation.

Josh was left questioning the sale again when he filled Toad and Mandy in on how the boys acquired their statement piece and the dairy farmers from NSW are gobsmacked. “We don’t like the idea, if we were that desperate for money I’m not sure we would go to that length,” said Mandy.

Toad and Mandy are shocked by Leigh and Kristie’s action.

And, homeowners Mel and Dave weren’t too happy to see their pre-owned vintage sewing machine amongst the other statement pieces. “They were just taken aback that someone would take something from the home already and then present it back to them,” said host Johanna Griggs. “It has left them really concerned for your zone.” While the feedback left the boys disheartened, they still decide to go ahead and use the sewing machine. Will they be able to win Mel and Dave over?
