Grant Denyer and his wife Cheryl Denyer want to be the that couple in their 80s walking down the street hand-in-hand and totally in love.
“You know when you see cute, really old people walking down the street that are still holding hands, that are in their 80s? We go, “That’s going to be us. That’s what we want.” That’s what we’ve got,” Grant, 41, told WHO last year.
Game of Games host Grant married his wife Cheryl, 38, (also known as Chezzi) in February 2010 at the luxurious Qualia Resort in Hamilton Island, Queensland. “I never could have imagined that life or love could be this good,” Chezzi said on their 8 year anniversary.
The couple are now parents to two beautiful children, daughter Sailor, 7, and Scout, 2. And another baby might still join the family!
“I think about expanding all the time. At the moment, we’re just so busy that it’s just not practical at all, but yeah, we do, we occasionally say it would be nice to have another baby. Who knows, if Grant gets the Gold it could happen tonight!” Chezzi told WHO at the 2018 Logie Awards… just before Grant won gold!
But it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the couple. Earlier this year Grant spoke candidly about his struggle with prescription drugs after suffering a near-fatal crash in 2008.
Grant admitted that it was his wife Cheryl that helped him out of his ‘dark period.’
“I mentally wasn’t well. I was on pain medication for a long time and I probably wasn’t aware of the effects of that,” he said.
“I just didn’t have an education to be able to deal with it. I think I was caught in that trap and a whole whirlwind of emotions that meant I was at my lowest.”
