It’s not just awards-show nominations Jennifer Lopez has received for her latest flick, Hustlers.

The star’s production company has also been slapped with a massive lawsuit, after Samantha Barbash – aka the inspiration for the JLo’s character, Ramona – decided to sue for a whopping $58 million (AUD).
According to PEOPLE mag, stripper Samantha Barbash has filed a federal lawsuit against JLo’s Nuyorican Productions, along with STX Entertainment, Gloria Sanchez Productions and Pole Sisters LLC, claiming they tried to “exploit” her likeness and character in the film.
Samantha, who’s a motivational speak and host according to her Instagram bio, took to social media to confirm the news and hint that a more info is on its way.
“Yes it’s true, I am suing, for all who are inquiring wait til you see my tv interviews for all my answers,” she wrote.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Samantha “claims the film producers approached her before production to ‘obtain a consent waiver from Ms. Barbash for the production of the film and their ultimate portrayal’ of her. She refused to sign off on the consent or waive her privacy rights.”
Samantha claims that Jen’s production company “used her likeliness and her story without permission, [defaming] her in the process,” reports TMZ.
She also notes that JLo’s character Ramona is portrayed as “using and manufacturing illegal substances in her home where she lived with her child” – something Samantha says is “untrue and offensive”.
JLo’s reps have declined to comment, according to E! News; but the drama didn’t stop her stepping out on the Golden Globes red carpet on January 6, after she was nominated for an award for her performance in the film.
The star – who attended the star-studded event with her fiancé Alex Rodriguez – failed to take home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture, which went to Laura Dern for Marriage Story.
Other winners on the night included Michelle Williams, who took home Best Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for TV for her work on Fosse/Verdon, Olivia Colman, who was named Best Actress In A TV Series – Drama for The Crown, and Brad Pitt, who won Best Supporting Actor in any Motion Picture for his role in Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.
