While he started out as a doting husband on Married At First Sight, Nasser’s behaviour quickly shifted. Even Nasser’s on-screen wife Gabrielle remarked that he only seemed interested in her when the cameras were around.
But, as reality TV often does, last night’s episode of Married At First Sight showed another side to the 50-year-old. And, it was probably the most honest and vulnerable we’ve ever seen him. The fitness instructor was overcome with emotion as he tried to reveal his intention to leave the experiment.
“I just felt like nothing I did was going to please Gab. Going through my head was genuine disappointment that this didn’t work out,” Nasser tells WHO of his intense emotions.
It wasn’t an easy few weeks for Nasser and Gab, who struggled to find a spark within their relationship. In the end, Nasser was glad that he stuck around for another week with Gabrielle, despite his desire to leave in the previous commitment ceremony.
“I feel like I put in a lot of effort that [last] week, but nothing I did seemed good enough,” he says.
Although both Nasser and Gab decided that their time was up, the couple parted on the best of terms. Gab’s parting words summed up her experience nicely: “while I am leaving, it is with love,” the 44-year-old Marketing Coordinator said.
Nasser echoes Gab’s statement: “We did leave as friends and the goodbye was genuine. We have caught up since.”
While he didn’t find his happily ever after on the experiment, Nasser still feels that the whole experience taught him a lot about love.
“I’ve had so many offers [since leaving MAFS] and I think the experts have really shown me that I need to make changes to have a loving relationship.”
