Meghan Markle has made her debut as a royal bride, and her wedding dress is absolutely stunning.
The world had their first look at Meghan in her gown when she stepped out of the car at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle before walking down the aisle to meet Prince Harry.
She looked like the fairytale princess she is about to become and the reveal of Meghan’s amazing wedding dress, made by the acclaimed British designer, Clare Waight Keller – the female Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy – was truly spectacular.
The dress had a bateau neck – and was deceptively simple with a long train and an even longer veil. According to Kensington Palace, Ms. Waight Keller designed a veil representing the distinctive flora of each Commonwealth country united in one spectacular floral composition.
Her hair was up – which many royal wedding experts were surprised by and the veil isheld in place by Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, lent to Meghan by The Queen. The diamond bandeau is English and was made in 1932, with the entre brooch dating from 1893.

Kensington Palace has shared intricate details of her gorgeous wedding dress, tweeting a press release about the amazing gown.
“Ms. Meghan Markle’s wedding dress has been designed by the acclaimed British designer, Clare Waight Keller. Ms. Waight Keller last year became the first female Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy,” says the release
According to the release, Meghan and Clare worked closely together on the design.
“True to the heritage of the house, the pure lines of the dress are achieved using six meticulously placed seams. The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasises the slender sculpted waist. The lines of the dress extend towards the back where the train flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza. The slim three-quarter sleeves add a note of refined modernity.”
And as for the fabric: “Following extensive research by Ms. Waight Keller in fabric mills throughout Europe, an exclusive double bonded silk cady was developed. Perfect for the round sculptural look required, the silk cady has a soft matt lustre whilst the bonding process and pure white colour chosen by Ms. Markle and Ms. Waight Keller bring a fresh modernity to the dress.”
He does have some criticism however: “It is a great silhouette but I expected some beautiful detail. It is slightly too simple, the train and veil length are a little off balance.”
Khalil, who has designed dresses for a who’s who of celebrities, adds that while “the tiara is exquisite”, the dress ultimately was just a little plain for his taste.
“It is a beautifully simplistic choice for Meghan but ultimately I thought perhaps more details would have lifted this gown to legendary status.”
Donny Galella, style blogger and fashion guru told WHO exclusively that he “just adored her Givenchy gown. It’s simple and elegant.”
He added: “I love that neckline on her and the drama of the extra long veil.”
Says Aussie designer Steven Khalil: “I’m liking the not so traditional off-the-shoulder. It’s a fusion of sophistication and elegance.”
