This Thanksgiving has been bittersweet for Oprah Winfrey after her mother Vernita Lee passed away at the age of 83.

A spokesperson for Winfrey shared that Lee died on Thanksgiving, sharing says her mother has already been laid to rest at a private funeral.
A cause of death is yet to be determined.
Lee is survived by 64-year-old Winfrey, whom she shared with Vernon Winfrey, along with her daughter, Patricia Amanda Faye Lee.
Lee also had four grandchildren — Alisha Hayes, Chrishaunda Lee Perez, Aquarius Lofton and Andre Brown — and four great grandchildren — Jaxon Praise Perez, Chai Theresa Perez, Donovan Hayes and Trinity Hayes.
Her son, Jeffrey Lee, died in 1989 and her other daughter, Patricia Lee Lloyd, died in 2003.
While the superstar talkshow host gave fans a look inside her Thanksgiving, including a peek at her feast – through 2 Instagram posts, she is yet to officially comment on the passing of her mother.
Lee once said about her daughter, “I loved her the way that she loves people now,” adding that her proudest moment was in 1985 when Winfrey “did the Color Purple.”
