The Bachelorette’s Jarrod Woodgate talks to WHO about his relationship with Sophie Monk since filming ended, his heartbreak, and the marriage proposal that could have been.
WHO: How are you feeling today?
JARROD WOODGATE: I’m getting there, thank you. It’s almost lunchtime so I think I can emotionally eat soon [laughs].
WHO: I have to ask the big question, are you over Sophie yet?
JARROD: No I’m not.
WHO: How have the two months since filming the finale been?
JARROD: It’s been the hardest two months because I don’t want to ruin the experience for everyone who have gone through the efforts to have this show, and especially for Soph, and you’ve just got to put a smile on. You’ve got to put a fake smile on and say that you’re happy and you’re seeing Soph at the end of the day because that’s what they believe.
WHO: Did your family know that you weren’t with Sophie?
JARROD: Yeah my family knew then they started watching and they were like ‘we don’t believe you Jarrod, we see Sophie saying everything right, this has got to be you’. So they all thought that I was telling fibs.
WHO: You’ve been in contact with Sophie, but have you spoken to Stu since filming ended?
JARROD: Yeah look I’ve been messaging Stu, we keep in contact. There’s no harm there because we’re both grown ups and obviously yep, I’ve had my heart broken, but I still want to remain friends with both of them.
WHO: Have you kept in contact with any of the other guys from the house?
JARROD: All of them have messaged me. I believe they all thought I won. So they all sent me congratulations at the end of the filming and now they’re just messaging me saying ‘Oh man, what the…’.
WHO: Obviously we all wish the best for Sophie and Stu, like you do as well, if it didn’t work our would you be there and give it a second shot with Sophie?
JARROD: Look, Sophie and I built a lot over the last three months. At the moment i just want to wish them all the best. I’m here for Sophie as a friend and if she needs help or support or just a chat, and same with Stu.
WHO: We all witnessed the pot plant saga, but where is it now? Do you still have it?
JARROD: The pot plant is still growing in the mansion. I left it there to grow and hopefully whoever is there next can get a selfie with it or start watering it for me. Continue it on through the mansion, that’ll be cool.
WHO: Would you consider returning to the mansion as the bachelor?
JARROD: At the moment it hasn’t crossed my mind. I’m just focusing on what the next step is and thats just going back to normality.
WHO: So you’ll just go back to work now?
JARROD: Just back to work and hang out with the family and the boys. Just chill out and relax now because it’s all done and dusted and emotionally draining it is when you’ve got to pretend.
WHO: Is it true that you were going to propose to Sophie?
JARROD: Look that was on the cards. If there was going to be a life with Sophie. I’ve gone this hard all the way through and I think at the end being able to say that we were going to get married would have been a beautiful thing, so yeah, it was definitely on the cards.
WHO: Is it too early to start looking for love again?
JARROD: Right now, yeah. I just need a bit of time to just focus and to reflect on everything then I will move on and I will start looking for love again when I’m ready.
