What is Amazon Prime Day?
The Amazon Prime Day sale is a multi-day shopping event that gives you the chance to get huge deals across a range of categories, from fashion and beauty to homewares, tech, and more.
Some of the discounts are more than 50 per cent off the usual price, including deals from Bonds, Calvin Klein, Sennheiser and Maybelline. Long story short, if you’re looking for something to shop, you’re likely to find it on Amazon.
When is Amazon Prime Day in 2025?
This year, the Amazon Prime Day sale ran for seven days in Australia, kicking off at 12:01AM AEST on Tuesday, July 8 and wrapping up at 11:59PM AEST on Monday, July 14. Shoppers had plenty of time to make their picks, though some of the hottest deals did sell out fast, so adding favourites to cart early definitely paid off.
Do you need an Amazon Prime membership to shop during Prime Day?
Yes. Prime Day sales are exclusive to Amazon Prime members. So, if you’re after the exclusive deals offered with an Amazon Prime Membership (free and fast delivery? Yes, please!), there’s a handy 30-day free trial for Amazon Prime.
With an Amazon Prime membership, you also get free shipping options, access to Prime Video and other entertainment offers. Memberships are $9.99 a month (after your 30-day free trial) or $79 a year.
How does this compare to other Amazon sales?
While it may not be as big a beast as Black Friday, Amazon Prime Day sales do pack a punch, similar to other sales like EOFY, and arguably bigger than Amazon’s Mid-Year Sale. To give you an idea, last year, Amazon Prime Day deals included up to 63 per cent off some items, like the Amazon Echo Pop speaker, with big discounts from brands including Dyson, LEGO, Sketchers and Garmin.
What’s more, Amazon Prime Day in Australia was actually a longer sale than the Prime Day event in the US this year, which only ran for four days. It was packed with special deals and discounts on a wide range of products, including those fast-paced “Lightning Deals” and serious markdowns on Amazon products, which only Prime members (including those on a free trial) can get.
