“[They ask] what you would say to the bachelor on the red carpet, what would you NOT want other contestants to find out about you.”

Alisha said producers even asked how many sexual partners the reality tv hopefuls have had.

She likened the daunting audition to a drama class which involved telling casting directors where she worked and why she wanted to be on the show.

“We were given hypotheticals and had to split across the room according to our answer, then justify it. E.g. if you bought someone a lottery ticket and they won a million dollars would you expect any money,” she said.

The women would then be required to choreograph a dance with two or three other auditionees.

“I imagine this was to see who naturally leads,” Alisha said.

“We were asked at random who we would not want to meet as the bachelor. Then a handful were picked to proceed to a conversation with the head honchos.”

After the group portion of the audition, the women then undergo an on-camera interview with five people from production company Endemol Shine and Channel Ten.

“They delve into your personality, your interests, what you’re looking for, all that good stuff,” Alisha said.

Alisha said that during the audition process, she didn’t cross paths with any women who ended up on the show.

“Honestly there were so many different groups (I think one group of 20 every half an hour for a full two/three days in one state,” she explained.

“I think casting professionals can tell if someone isn’t being authentic and it’s a pretty high pressure environment (the mansion and the process) so you want to be yourself from the start or else the facade will come crumbling down pretty fast,” she said.

Once accepted for the show, contestants aren’t allowed to tell their loved ones.

“Everything is super confidential. I didn’t even tell my housemates (I did have a job where I was travelling for long periods of time so it wasn’t too pronounced,” she said.

“I only told my mum and my best friend Hannah in case my rent payment didn’t go through.”
