To absolutely no one’s surprise, Aquaman is officially the highest-grossing DC Comic film in history!
According to Box Office Mojo, the hit film— which has received rave reviews from even the harshest of critics— reeled in $1.090 billion, dethroning The Dark Knight Rises which brought in a cool $1.084 billion!
Despite the impressive figures, Deadline noted that the film hasn’t been released in Japan yet, meaning that when it does hit cinemas over there, we can expect the film to rake in a lot more dough.
While the latest instalment in the DC Extended Universe is surpassing everyone’s predictions, director James Wan, who was also behind the Conjuring franchise, isn’t too keen on a sequel… unless the script is incredible.
“I never set out to make sequels to any of my films I direct. If they happen, that’s great because that means people out there love it and they want more of it,” Wan told Deadline.
Despite his hesitation, he said if it does go ahead, he will oversee the project, and hand-select the writers who will help him pen the script.
In case you haven’t had a chance to watch the masterpiece, it’s in cinemas now! In the meantime, take a look at the trailer below.
