Australian Survivor: Blood V Water is just days away now, and we’ve finally been given a good look at the castaways who will be battling it out against their nearest and dearest for the 2022 season.
We’ve known for a while that season two contenders Samantha Gash and Mark Wales would be returning, this time as a married couple, and the hype surrounding the appearance of American Survivor legend Sandra Diaz-Twine has had us counting down the days to the premiere, there were a few other rumoured cast members floating in the abyss.
We now know that former MasterChef Australia contestant Khanh Ong is definitely headed into the Queensland outback alongside his sister, Amy.
Influencer and business owner Sophie Cachia will also be joining the show, with her sister, KJ – a Survivor super-fan.
Meet the official Blood V Water cast below!
Sandra Diaz-Twine and Alanna ‘Nina’ Twine
Two-time winner of American Survivor, Sandra Diaz-Twine, is heading down under to try her luck on a third season. Following along with the season’s theme, Sandra will be competing alongside her daughter, Alanna, whom she refers to as Nina.
“I’m the queen of Survivor as I’m the first two-time winner ever,” Sandra can be heard saying in the trailer for Blood V Water.
“I have a secret weapon – my baby girl Nina. Y’all better look out, because I taught her well,” she adds.
Mark Wales and Samantha Gash
Mark and Samantha met on season two of Australian Survivor, where they fell in love.
The pair are now married and share a son, Henry, who will get to watch his parents return for a second go at the show.
During season two, Mark and Sam were booted by the Asaga tribe for being too much of a ‘power couple’, but with arguably all the Blood V Water contestants belonging to some kind of power couple, these two could be in for a slightly easier ride.
Michael Crocker and Chrissy Zaremba
NRL legend Michael Crocker and his sister-in-law Chrissy Zaremba will also be entering the game together.
For 13 years Michael was an NRL player, before he retired with the Rabbitohs in 2013. He’ll need to dust off his kicks to play this new game that’s set to be an all-new challenge.
Chrissy, who is the sister of Mark’s partner Kiri-Moana Proctor, will also need to prove herself in the outback – where anything, and we mean anything, could happen.
Khanh and Amy Ong
Siblings Khanh and Amy will also be taking on Survivor, with some reality TV pedigree behind them. Chef Khanh, who is best known for his time on MasterChef Australia, has a burning desire to win the title of Sole Survivor. Amy, who is a beautician, is also ready to make a name for herself, hoping to step out from Khanh’s shadow.
Sophie and KJ
Sophie Cachia is a well-known influencer and businesswoman, who owns the sleepwear label Cachia. Her sister, KJ, is a former flight attendant and Survivor super-fan, making them somewhat an ideal team. While KJ is armed with a wealth of knowledge about how to win the show, Sophie’s driven nature will make them a force to be reckoned with.
Alex and Jay
Alex met Jay when he began dating Alex’s rather famous sister, Sam Frost. Although the pair have now broken up, Alex and Jay are left to take on Survivor together. While fan of the show Alex is keen to fly under the radar, Jay is more relaxed, but still ultra-competitive.
Andy and Kate
Andy Meldrum is back for a shot at redemption after making it to 12th place in season four, Champions V Contenders. This time, his sister Kate is in tow, hoping to make her own mark on the game. While Andy is hoping to play more of an honest, fun and good-natured game this time around, Kate is determined to make her time in the game count.
Ben and Shayelle
Partners Ben and Shayelle are glad to have each other going into Survivor.
“Having him there will be priceless in terms of support. I struggle to not get caught up in my emotions sometimes, so I have to force myself to think my way out of it,” Shayelle says.
David and Brianna
While it’s 26-year-old Briana’s dream to be Sole Survivor, her dad David is more than happy to lend a hand. Briana calls her dad ‘the skull crusher’, the one who will lay down the law, while she works as the entertainer and social butterfly.
Jesse and Jordie
Brothers Jesse and Jordie are in with a shot – while Jesse is a triathlete, Jordie works as a landscaper – leading us to guess we might have two challenge beasts on hand. The two claim to be polar opposites of each other, but they’re dedicated to becoming the perfect team.
Mel and Michelle
Identical twins Mel and Michelle are a pair to look out for, given their ‘twin connection’. They’re able to read each other very easily, and apparently can even feel each other’s pain. While Mel is the strategist who loves the psychology behind Survivor, Michelle works in communications and loves to spot a liar.
Jordan and Josh
Cousins Jordan and Josh have a multitude of skills between them – one is a pilot, and the other a personal trainer. With a relationship they describe as ‘closer than most brothers’, these two might be quite unbeatable. While Jordan is keen to push himself physically and mentally to see what he is made of, Josh is the Survivor armchair expert who is ready to try his hand at the strategic gameplay needed to win.
Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water premieres January 31 on 10.
