A person claiming to be a contestant on the current season told gossip podcast So Dramatic! that a handful of women didn’t click with Jimmy and subsequently eliminated themselves.

“So three girls wanted to leave the mansion or tried to leave because they weren’t into Jimmy and were over the whole thing,” the insider told host Megan Pustetto.

“Producers got wind of some of the girls wanting to leave, so they’re going to make it look like Jimmy kicked them all out to save face and to make them look good, because they can’t have the Bachelor looking unwanted.”

The anonymous contestant also claimed that two women bailed on their own accord.

The woman didn’t hold back when it came to Jimmy, describing the 32-year-old pilot as a “douche”.

“Jimmy’s just a douche, he’s a self-entitled, Bondi rich kid, basically,” she said.

The insider also claimed several of the contestants weren’t satisfied with production’s pick for this year’s leading man.

“We all rocked up to the limo, we saw him, we were like, ‘You’re kidding’. We knew it was going to be someone not famous, but producers told us he was the most eligible bachelor they ever had,” she said.

It comes after rumours The Bachelor could be cancelled following this season’s ratings plummet.

Between fame-hungry contestants and a lacklustre suitor in Jimmy, fans are switching off in droves.

The program had its lowest-ever premiere last month, with just 482,000 metro viewers tuning in for the first episode.

Ratings then plunged even further to a record low of 360,000 viewers the following week.

While the harshest of criticisms seem to be about the “fatigued” format of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, a source told New Idea that Channel Ten is set to blow next year’s seasons out of the water by handing over $5 million in talent fees to secure big names for suitors and contestants.

“The casting teams are trying to lure in big stars to make sure audiences are engaged – the good news? Money is no object,” says the insider.

“Celebrity-driven reality shows are the new normal and they bring in the ratings. Ten are making an A-list wish list at this very moment.”
