If you think you have a knack for gift giving, think again. Celebrities have a habit of gifting each other some outrageously expensive or just downright weird gifts that you can’t help but wonder (and hope) are fake.
Rest assured, they are not.
From superyachts and supercars to ghost detectors and branches of the Burger King franchise (???), celebrities have exchanged multimillion dollar gifts for reasons ranging from your typical birthday and anniversary presents to a simple ‘just because.’
With Jeff and Lauren Sánchez Bezos set to co-chair The Met Gala this year as primary donors, we were reminded of some of the other purchases the couple have invested in, such as the Apollo capsule shaped sauna the Amazon-founder gifted to his wife as an addition to their backyard in memory of her trip to space.
That’s a sentence I didn’t ever think I’d write.
For some insight into ‘how the other half lives’, here are some other crazy gifts celebrities have exchanged over the years.
Jeff Bezos to Lauren Sánchez Bezos
After Lauren Sanchez flew on the Blue Origin space flight on April 14, 2025, the Kardashians gifted her a crystal-encrusted Judith Leiber Couture UFO Orbiter clutch that retailed at US$6,995, according to PageSix.
However, the famous family weren’t the only ones to commemorate the American journalist’s trip to space, as her husband Jeff Bezos also gifted her an expensive space-themed present.
In December, 2025, Jeff Bezos gifted his wife a space capsule shaped sauna for their backyard to compliment their $A249 million home.
JayZ to Beyoncé
For Beyoncé’s 32rd birthday, JayZ gifted her a superyacht valued at US$70 million.
It apparently has lots of outdoor space and a helicopter pad, so yeah, consider us officially jealous.
However, Queen B is also known for treating her man, with reports of her gifting him a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport (a supercar for the non-F1 viewers) for just under US$2 million for his 41st birthday.
Let’s just say they’re both riding in style.
Scarlett Johansson to Ryan Reynolds
Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were married from 2008 to 2011, and while the pair were dating, the actress gifted her him of her wisdom teeth… gold-plated and strung around a necklace.
Not quite the thing I would spend my money on, but maybe it was an inside joke?!
Tom Cruise to Katie Holmes
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were (infamously?) married from November 2006 to August 2012.
While the pair were still very much in love, the Mission Impossible actor reportedly spent US$20 million on an private jet for Holmes before their wedding as a way to say “your love send me to the moon.”
A card also would’ve worked, but what do I know!
Kanye West to Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have certainly given each other some expensive gifts.
However, probably the one that still lives rent-free in our heads is Kanye’s purchasing ten different Burger King branches as a wedding present for Keeping up with the Kardashians star.
While the reports surfaced of this in 2014 and Burger King representatives neither confirmed or denied the rumours at the time, it’s safe to assume that for a moment in time, Kim could have as many chicken fries as her heart desired from Burger King restaurants in the U.S, UK, France, and Italy.
This is something to aspire to.
Ben Affleck to Jennifer Lopez
While news of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce is what has flooded headlines in recent years, when the pair were still very much in love, Affleck bought his former wife a jewel-encrusted toilet seat worth US$105,000.
Ouch?
Angelina Jolie to Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie gifted Brad Pitt an equally expensive and straight up hard-to-find gift to celebrate their wedding.
Dropping AUD$290,000, Jolie sourced and bought Pitt Ernest Hemingway’s actual typewriter that he used in the 1930s to write the book From Who the Bell Tolls, as reports noted in 2014.
Now I’m jealous.
David Beckham to Victoria Beckham
In 2008, David Beckham bought former Posh Spice Victoria Beckham an entire Napa Valley winery for her birthday, certainly a big step up from her so-called “working class” roots (IYKYK).
There are also reports that the soccer star gifted his wife a US$1.8 million platinum vibrator created by strip club owner Peter Stringfellow.
Let’s hope she got her money’s worth for that one…
