It’s just been revealed that the Sunrise host has sold her sprawling country home in the New South Wales Southern Highlands for a tidy profit, two months after she also sold her North Bondi apartment.
The 43-year-old sold her Burrawang cottage for $3.1 million, securing an off-market deal that made her a tidy $900,000 profit from when she first bought the home for $2.2 million three years ago.
The five bedroom, five bathroom property, which also features an open-plan kitchen and dining area overlooking paddocks with post-and-rail fencing, was used by Sam as her country retreat on the weekends when she wasn’t required to be at Seven’s Sydney studios in Martin Place in the CBD.
The massive sale comes after she also sold her North Bondi apartment for $3.15 million in July, weeks following her engagement to Richard, 61, in June.
The savvy journalist also made a profit on the sale of her Sydney pad. She bought the seaside home for $2.15 million in 2014, reaping her an excess of $650,000.
That means the total profit from both sales equals $1.5 million, a significant cash injection on top of her reported $1 million annual salary from Seven.
Sam also earns extra cash through her ambassador role with WW, formerly Weight Watchers, which saw her lose around 10kg recently. She can command significant fees for speaking, hosting and MC gigs, along with her weekly column in Stellar magazine in The Sunday Telegraph.
With Sam selling off all of her property, it would seem she is set to move in with Richard full time.
The former farmer and horse breeder owns a sprawling property in the Souther Highlands too.
It’s believed the couple plan to settle down there more permanently, with The Daily Telegraph reporting Sam has been spotted looking for a rental in Bondi, where she can rest her head during the four days a week she hosts Sunrise.
Richard proposed to Sam back in June at his home, getting down on one knee in his paddock, before he presented the stunning blonde with a gorgeous diamond ring.
The duo have previously opened up to WHO about how they first fell in love and what drew them to one another.
“His eyes were the first thing I saw,” Sam told us in November 2019, when the couple first went public with their romance.
“We both enjoy horses, skiing, architecture, art. That’s really important to have a lot in common.”
She gushed that she loves spending time with Richard, who “is really comfortable in his own skin”, away from “the media circus”.
“He doesn’t care what people think of him, which I admire greatly. He’s very decent, very honest. I love that he’s so modest.”
On his part, Richard said Sam “had a sparkle in her eye”.
Richard has two adult daughters, Sasha and Grace, from his previous marriage.
While Sam has been open about her desire to have children, she has previously said “it would be nice but if it doesn’t happen, then c’est la vie … and if it does, it would be lovely.”
The couple are yet to set a date for their wedding, but Sam has confirmed their nuptials will not be televised.
