American Omar Mateen open fired on party-goers at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando Florida on June 12 in what is being investigated as an alleged hate crime against the LGBTQ community.

“The hate that stole these 49 individuals from all those who loved them has been allowed to flourish in our country for too long,” said Murphy, 50. “No person is born hating another, and we have an obligation as Americans to stand up against prejudice and bigotry that would incite violence against someone simply for who they are.”

The television producer is a longstanding vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community.

49 celebrities retell the stories of each of the massacre victims.

Vergara, 43, narrates the story of mother-of-two Yilmary Rodriguez Solivan, 24.  “Marie planned this Saturday night out with friends straight after she gave birth to her second son three months ago,” read the actress. “She steered everyone towards the gay club to avoid the kind of violence that had recently occurred at another local club.”
