We’ve been patiently waiting for 12 months, and we are happy to report that the Married at First Sight 2026 premiere wasted no time delivering chaos, cringe and conversation starters.

Oh yeah, we are SO back.

From uncomfortable producer banter to eyebrow-raising behaviour at the bachelorette party, the first episode set the tone for what’s shaping up to be a very messy season.

Speaking to WHO ahead of the season premiere, expert Alessandra Rampolla teased, “It’s consistently explosive throughout the season because different people explode at different moments. We don’t really get much of a break on the drama.

“An explosion to the left, an explosion to the right, there’s a backdrop explosion at the same time. How do the cameras get it all – it’s crazy.”

And, after the first two weddings, we can safely say that we see exactly what she means!

Here are the moments everyone’s already talking about:

Alissa’s proposal demand

One of the most uncomfortable scenes of the night came courtesy of Alissa, who insisted her future husband David drop to one knee and propose at the top of the aisle.

David was visibly reluctant, hesitating and trying to laugh it off, saying “I don’t know if this is part of the set-up or if you’re being serious,” to which she replied: “I’m being deadly serious, I need a man who will do this for me.”

Eventually, he gave in, but the moment dragged on far longer than necessary.

What should’ve been playful quickly tipped into painfully awkward territory, leaving viewers squirming at home.

And if that wasn’t enough, the kiss that followed sealed the deal as one of the most second-hand embarrassment-inducing moments of the episode.

“Who’s Your Daddy?”

Just when viewers thought things couldn’t get more uncomfortable, a producer’s comment to Alissa raised plenty of eyebrows.

When asked “who’s your daddy?” Alissa’s response of, “David’s my daddy” sent shivers all of our spines at home.

The exchange instantly became one of the most viral moments of the premiere.

Bachelorette party gone wrong

The bachelorette party should’ve been about bonding, but instead, it became a showcase for Gia’s sharp tongue.

Throughout the night, she made repeated negative comments about the other women, including calling them “boring” and rating Bec “a 5,” a moment that left viewers horrified, especially after Bec’s honest confessional at the start.

Bec, who tells the cameras that Gia’s attitude “stinks”, had already opened up to the producers about her 20kg weight loss, which left her “feeling beautiful” for the first time, as it has been something she struggled with her “whole life.”

Look, we know we’re not supposed to yuck other people’s yums, but taking pot shots at other women in 2026? That’s a definite ick.
