Michelle Bridges, 48, has confessed she isn’t the “tough girl” she was made out to be on The Biggest Loser.

The author and trainer opened up to WHO magazine editor Keshnee Kemp on the Raw Talks podcast where she explained she still has to “work” to get people to see who she really is.

“I tried to stay true to myself as I could but they were looking for a butt kicker.

“They wanted that. And hey I can do that. But that’s not everything in my collection of goods.

“I feel as though that was amplified, probably more than I realised at the time.

“But now fast-forward to 13 years later – there’s still a hangover that I have to wear.

“Like when I walked into DWTS before the show they were like ‘you are so not what we thought you were going to be.’

“It has been work to get people to see me as I am,” she confessed to Keshnee.

She says her partner Steve Willis, 42, has gone through the same experience too.

“Steve has the same thing too – he was really cast as a character.

“He was told you have to wear sunglasses and you’re not to talk to everyone on set. He was told specifically,” she said, something which didn’t always work with the contestants.

“They [the producers] have to get what they’ve got to get, and we’ve got to get what we’ve got to get, but we have to have trust with our contestants.

“So if we were to suddenly come in and try and drill into their inner demons and we do that within 3.5 seconds of walking into the gym, they know what we’re up too. They close up,” she explained.

But while Michelle wasn’t tough on the contestants, she didn’t hold back when it came to the show producers.

“I would say ‘give 20 mins of training, I just need to train them and get them going and see what comes from that.’

“I had to muscle to up against some of the producers. I used to call them clipboards. I was like ‘listen, clipboards!’

“Maybe I was that tough trainer after all.”
