If you’re a fan of The Last Of Us, we have some good news for you.
It’s been confirmed that two of the show’s stars, Pedro Pascal and Danny Ramirez, are starring in a new film De Noche.
And if that wasn’t good enough, the two will play on-screen lovers… so things are bound to get steamy.
What is De Noche about?
Directed by Todd Haynes (whose last film May December earned an Oscar nomination for best screenplay), the film takes place in 1930s Los Angeles.
It tells the story of a police officer (played by Pedro) and his “passionate and unexpected love affair” with a boarding school teacher (played by Danny).
“The two men become targets of the city’s corrupt political machine and are forced to flee to Mexico,” a statement revealed.
“This story, with Pedro Pascal and Danny Ramirez in the two leads, arises out of an era — all too relevant to our own — of domestic corruption, racial exploitation and global terror,” director Todd Haynes said.
“But it emerges as a testament to the inexplicable powers of desire and love to survive and overcome even the most crippling of human barriers.”
Fans delighted by Pedro Pascal and Danny Ramirez casting
Pedro’s role was supposed to be played by Joaquin Phoenix, but the actor reportedly got “cold feet” just five days before filming was set to begin in Mexico.
However, to say film fans are excited by the new casting is an understatement.
“I’m literally so sat,” one X user commented on the casting news announcement, whilst another remarked, “Mister Fantastic and Falcon in love,” referring to their superhero characters.
Others remarked that the film is sure to generate buzz around awards season, and that the story’s message is a poignant one.
“Finally, a film that reminds us love has always been radical. In 1930s LA, just holding hands could be an act of rebellion, now imagine running from the entire city for it. Pedro Pascal + Danny Ramirez = history, heartbreak, and chaos rolled into one cinematic masterclass. Can’t wait.”
While Danny is currently dating fellow Hollywood star Jessica Alba, little is known about Pedro’s personal life.
It is currently believed that Pedro isn’t married and the actor has consistently kept his romantic life largely out of the spotlight.
Back in 2024, celebrity gossip site DeuxMoi shared a series of screenshots of insider tips and a reported paparazzi snap of Pedro kissing an unknown woman alongside a recent snap from his Instagram with stylist Coco Ullrich with the caption, “Guys….”
However, since Pedro keeps his love life out of the public eye, we took this with a grain of salt at the time.
