Aside from gaining a few thousand Instagram followers and your five minutes in the sun, oh, and finding love, of course… why else would contestants go on a reality TV show if it wasn’t for the cold hard cash?
According to a recent report in the Daily Telegraph, this year’s Bachelor in Paradise contestants received a measly $500 per day for their time filming late last year.
Unless you’re Alex Nation, that is who was reportedly paid an eye watering “10 times that amount”. So she’s looking at $5000 per day. Makes it worth a couple of face-to-face arguments with an annoying ex.
Is Bachelor In Paradise Australia scripted?
Megan Marx confirmed Bachelor in Paradise’s worst kept secret – that the show is scripted.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph the former contestant said producers edited her words together to create sentences she never said.
“People want to know – is it fake or scripted?” she said.
Taking to Instagram recently, she confirmed the scripted, edited nature of the show further: “As reality TV D-grade f**kwits (I own up to being one of them), we are unwittingly (and sometimes wittingly) coached and edited into roles to create a dramatic effect that often has no resemblance to the true story line, personality, or feeling at the time.”
“Our contracts ensure this is the case.”
Seems the standard producer tricks are at work on the show, with those contestants who are more entertaining getting more airtime and being less likely to be cut.
Are the contestants actors?
According to a producer from The Bachelor Australia: “They’re not actors… you discover who’s putting on an act pretty early on. The people who are cranky or bitchy — that tends to be what they’re like in real life.”
Where is Bachelor In Paradise Australia filmed?
The show was filmed last November at Mango Bay Resort in Fiji, and according to Keira Maguire the resort is a “dump.”
Keira told The Buzz podcast: “It’s 40 degrees, they’ve probably all got Fiji belly, I’m not joking.”
“The place looks good on TV, but it’s a dump,” the reality starlet said.
Do Bachelor In Paradise Australia contestants plan their own dates?
They have some input into the dates, but as some of the more extravagant options take a while to organise the producers start planning them ahead of time, reveals the ex-Bachie producer.
