It’s been a long time coming and blonde beauty Cass Wood has finally scored herself a single date with Bachelor Nick Cummins.

We caught up with the model and Sydney local to get all the details.

How are you feeling about everything?

Cass: I wasn’t expecting so much focus on me and the first few weeks were pretty intense, the storyline going on and everything, but it’s changed and now it’s good.

How was your first date on the show with Nick?

Cass: Yeah it was really good. Obviously, I was waiting a long time and I was super excited that I finally got a date with him and it was a whole bunch of fun.

Tell us more?

Cass: The whole day we were acting like big kids, running around the theme park, going down water slides and we did this really scary ride where they lifted us up high in the air and we had to pull this string and go flying and it was just really enjoyable to spend our first day together away from all the other girls. And then at the end of it we got to sit in a wave pool and it had a setup area and we had an intimate chat and a little kiss so it was nice.

Why do you think Nick made you wait for your single date?

Cass: I think he waited so long because we’d been on previous dates and got to know each other quite well so he did know me and there was a lot of girls and I think he was just going on other dates with the other girls and just seeing what they were like. I think I expected to have my date a little later on which is fair enough.

How did you feel each time you didn’t get picked?

Cass: Obviously a lot of other girls went on dates, but I think when the three intruders came in – we didn’t expect there to be intruders – so all the girls were saying “Cass, You’ll be up next” or “You’ll have your date soon” but then the intruders came in and Jamie Lee ended up getting a date. I think it was at that moment that I was like “Oh damn! But I know it will be soon hopefully.” I guess it was frustrating at the time, but I believed that we would go on a date eventually.

Would you marry Nick?

Cass: After meeting nick and spending time with him and then again on the show rebuilding all those feelings and stuff, he ticks all those boxes – he’s such a good person. He’s definitely someone I could see myself with. His family are all super great, you can definitely tell where he gets his sense of humour from. His dad and his uncle are funny – they have the same jokes as Nick. His brother is so nice, he gave us a lot of advice and his sister was really nice as well.

Would you ever want to be an actress?

Cass: I’ve been working on home and away for six years but I just do extra work, I’m studying full-time at the moment doing my accounting degree and my plan was that I’ll be finished my degree at the end of next year, and I wanted to go into the graduate program at ANZ. I’ll see what happens in future, like I do love working on the set of Home And Away but I don’t have plans to be an actress.

What have you learned about yourself?

Cass: It was definitely a massive experience where I was surrounded by heaps of different personalities and there was heaps of conflict and it was a hard experience – it was good – but also really hard. I had to deal with everything. I definitely grew as a person, I’m glad that I stayed true to myself and I didn’t stoop down to low levels where I said nasty things about other people, because there was a lot of that going on in there. Even when people were being nasty to me, behind my back or to my face, instead of saying bad things I just wanted everyone to be positive. Like, very much women supporting women and being nice to each other.

How are you not competitive with Brittany and Sophie?

Cass: It was weird because we became best friends instantly – we will be lifelong friends forever. it is a bit od a weird situation – the whole concept is weird because we’re 28 girls dating one guy. You’d think “how’s it going to work?” He’s going on all these dates and kissing them and coming back. The weird thing was it just worked because there was never any competitive nature between us three – we were never jealous. The truth was, you could never see girl go on the date with him, it was almost like – even though they’d come back and tell you everything it almost felt like they were dating a different person. I was just happy for them, there was never any bitterness.

What did you do in between takes?

We’d workout out, we’d go to the pool, i took my guitar in so I played a lot of that. We’d sit together and laugh, try and get some down time.

What wasn’t aired? For a while it seemed like one-sided love.

For the first couple of weeks really until I had that one on one on that camping group date, I guess it was pretty much one-sided my way. With me saying my feelings, rather than saying the good things Nick had to say. Even on that group date there was a point where we spent time together and we actually walked away and played down and it was really nice, just moments you haven’t really seen. We had a private moment and chatted.

Were you strategically given more airtime?

Cass: The producers didn’t know that Nick and I had dated before. So when I rocked up they found out that we had history together and I guess that was pretty good for them because it definitely made a pretty good storyline for them.

Did Nick have more to say about you which wasn’t aired?

Cass: I know he definitely had positive things to say – he was saying really nice things. Watching these past few weeks was really hard because the focus was on me and I guess I was portrayed not as I really am. And not how it really happened.

How have you dealt with the backlash?

Cass: Everyone was talking about me on social media, I didn’t really go into it, I did see a few names like “stage five clinger” and “stalker.” It was pretty hurtful because it was so untrue. But at the same time, these people don’t know me, so it didn’t really hurt me because it doesn’t mean anything. It’s totally turned around, people have been so supportive – during that time anyway, anyone I came across just gave me such positive feedback and were really lovely to me. And yeah, now everything has changed an heaps of people are saying positive things and people figured out in the end anyway so its all good.
