One of the biggest twists on The Block 2026 was the change in living arrangements. This year, the contestants have had to live side by side in one big sharehouse, which formerly belonged to The Block contestants Emma and Ben.
As producers expected, this living arrangement has led to quite a lot of drama, with the contestants clashing over everything from dishwashing to bathroom sharing.
Courtney and Sev, from House 4, drew the lucky straw this year as they were assigned the biggest room, which included an ensuite.
Therefore, the pair admitted to WHO that they mostly had a pretty sweet ride throughout the season.
However, there was one moment involving air conditioning that sent these best friends over the edge.
Courtney and Sev were in their own ‘little orbit’ for most of the show
This week, the drama well and truly hit its boiling point after contestants Wyatt and Chantel were called out by the other contestants for constantly leaving their bowls in the sink after family dinners.
Lisa and Rosco described the habit as “gross”, while Jolene was even more blunt, calling Chantel and Wyatt “arrogant people” over the situation.
However, Courtney and Sev were completely unaware of the situation as they were spending time at the Portsea Hotel (after they won last week’s challenge) when the tension hit its peak.
This was a common theme for the pair as they told WHO that even when there was “bathroom drama”, they “weren’t paying attention to it”.
“We had our own bathroom,” Courtney admitted. “Luckily, Sev and I were in ‘Sev and Courtney’ world.
“We were in our little orbit.”
They even gave a shout-out to Adam for helping hang their washing! It’s safe to say they were living large.
Courtney and Sev had to have a stern word with one contestant: ‘It was just nuts’
Although this week, the contestants admitted that some of the other teams’ behaviours tipped them over the edge, pointing to one Blockhead in particular.
“It’s share accommodation. Life’s a little bit hard,” they confessed. “I think we all would fight over the washing machine.
“I think that’s the only thing I’d get a little bit s–ty over because there was only one little washing machine and we were just pushing out a crazy amount of dirty clothes. So nine times out of ten, it was just nuts.”
Even then, they admitted that this was pretty tolerable and they were happy to “roll with the punches a lot”.
However, there was one contestant that made resting after hours quite difficult.
During Wednesday night’s episode on September 16, Tayla cranked the air conditioner (AC) up to the max — an act that not even Courtney and Sev could avoid.
“Oh my God, she absolutely would cook up,” Courtney and Sev said. “She should fry up at night and we would be up all night long because we were just cooking.
“I think it happened about three times. But I think we certainly gave her the word, ‘Cook us again and we’ll come cook you on the fry pan in the loft!’
“It was wild. I sleep in 27 degrees, but I think she bumped it up to like 30-plus. It was nuts.”
