A quiet Los Angeles neighbourhood was left reeling this week after authorities confirmed that two people were found dead inside a residence owned by acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner.
Emergency services were called to the property in the 250 block of Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood around 3:38pm following reports of a medical incident and upon arrival, first responders discovered the bodies of a man, 78, and a woman, 68.

Their identities have not been publicly released, and police have not confirmed their relationship to the household. LAPD sources told ABC News that police initially began a death investigation that later developed into a murder case.
A spokesperson for the department noted that detectives from LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division were also at the scene.

Who is Rob Reiner?
Rob, 78, and his wife Michele Singer have not been linked to the incident beyond ownership of the property. However, neighbours confirmed to the outlet that the couple do live in the home and match the ages of the deceased people.
A towering figure in Hollywood, Rob is best known for directing iconic films including The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men, as well as his early acting career on All in the Family.

Who is Rob Reiner’s wife?
Rob was introduced to his second and current wife, photographer Michele, while directing When Harry Met Sally. The two tied the knot in 1989, and share three children- Jake (34), Nick (32), and Romy (28).
Sharing a sweet story of their beginnings, Rob once recalled that he spotted Michelle Pfeiffer on the cover of Premiere magazine and reportedly told the movie’s director of photography, Barry Sonnenfeld, that he was going to reach out to her.

However, Barry told Rob: “You’re not going to call her, you’re going to marry my friend, Michele Singer.”
An ongoing investigation
Shocked neighbours in the area described the street as typically calm and private, adding to the shock surrounding the discovery. Police have asked for patience while forensic examinations and interviews continue.
However, at this stage, officials are urging the public to avoid speculation, noting that further information will be released once next of kin have been notified and investigators are able to confirm the circumstances involved.
