The couple has split after one year of dating, but remain friends.

 

“Both the mileage between their homes and their heavy career demands interfered with their ability to maintain the relationship,” a rep for both Brinkley and Mellencamp told WHO

 

“They vowed to remain best of friends.” Brinkley has spoken at length about her attraction to Mellencamp, saying that she at first thought they were opposites. “He’s kind of a throwback from another time, like a silent cowboy,” she told WHO.

The couple wedded in secret and after only six months of marriage, have filed for divorce.

“The decision was made amicably and with mutual respect toward one another,” they told TMZ in a joint statement. “We will always remain great friends and devoted partners in raising our children.”
