Aussie actress Rose Byrne won big at the 2026 Golden Globes, but sadly her husband Bobby Cannavale, was nowhere to be seen.
The 46-year-old took home the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – musical or comedy.
Addressing his absence in her acceptance speech, Rose shocked viewers with the unusual reason he couldn’t make the awards.

Clutching her Golden Globe tightly as she spoke, the mum-of-two quipped: “I want to thank my husband, Bobby Cannavale, who couldn’t be here because we’re getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey, so thank you, baby!”
I know which event I would rather be at anyway!
In securing the win, Rose beat Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked: For Good”), Kate Hudson (“Song Sung Blue”), Chase Infiniti (“One Battle After Another”), Amanda Seyfried (“The Testament of Ann Lee”) and Emma Stone (“Bugonia”).
The actress was certainly amongst good company in her category!
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon over the weekend, Rose pre-empted her husband’s absence… and gave the same reason!
“He can’t come, which is such a bummer, he’s going to a reptile expo in New Jersey. We’re getting a bearded dragon. This expo is the place to go,” she explained.

“I think they’re gorgeous. I think they eat live crickets. I had a friend who had one and she said that crickets do escape sometimes,” she added.
Revealing that it would be a total “parent fail” if they didn’t get the dragon for their kids, Rocco, 9, and Rafael, 8, she showed her family’s priorities!
