Cancer con artist Belle Gibson is FINALLY set to be hauled before the courts to explain exactly why she’s yet to pay a cent of the $410k fine she was issued two years ago.
The Aussie ‘wellness’ influencer has been summoned to appear in the federal court on May 14 for examination on her financial affairs following her persistent and blatant disregard towards the fine handed to her by a Federal Court judge in 2017 for five breaches of Australian consumer law.
Gibson claimed she had brain cancer and healed herself with natural remedies, including diet and alternative therapies.
The self-proclaimed ‘wellness warrior’ also lied to consumers about donating money from her Whole Pantry app and book sales to various charities, including a boy with inoperable brain cancer.
In fact, despite receiving a staggering $440,500 from sales of her app and book, she only donated about $10,000 to charity, and only after the media began questioning her cancer claims.
Justice Mortimer warned Gibson in November failure to pay the penalty will make her liable for jail, property seizures or other punishment.
Throughout her time developing The Whole Pantry brand, Gibson made various claims about her health, claiming she had terminal brain cancer, amongst a staggering list of other ailments – all of which were found to be false.
Due to Gibson’s history of no-show court dates, a warrant will reportedly be issued for her should she fail to appear at the scheduled May 14 hearing.
Earlier this year, A Current Affair cameras caught Gibson and her family at Melbourne Airport, returning from a reported luxury African holiday with an alleged price tag of$15,000.
To date, Gibson has exhibited zero remorse for her actions.
