Comedian Celeste Barber’s bushfire fundraiser hits a staggering amount

Comedian Celeste Barber is leading an astonishing bushfire fundraising campaign on Facebook that has hit a staggering $17 million in a matter of days. 

The campaign is receiving around $10,000 in donations every minute.

“Please help anyway you can. This is terrifying”, Barber posted on Instagram, along with images of her mother-in-law’s house under threat at Eden on the NSW South Coast on Friday.

“They are scared. They need your help.”

People from far have since donated to Barber’s fundraising campaign which was launched to help volunteer firefighters 

“Want to join me in supporting a good cause?” Barber wrote on the campaigns Facebook page. 

“I’m raising money for The Trustee for NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little.

“Anything helps. Thank you for your support.”

On Saturday, Barber thanked everyone who had already helped. 

“This is out of control! You are all out of control,” she wrote. “My love and appreciation for you all is out of control. Unfortunately today the fires are due to get even more out of control.”

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are amongst the celebrities to have pledged $500,000 towards frontline firefighters as the nation’s bushfire crisis continues.

Singing sensation Pink has also donated a staggering $500,000, saying she is totally devastated watching the events unfold.
