One in 10 women are currently suffering from the agonising pain and crippling effects of endometriosis – and that’s just an estimate.
For Australian Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins, the severity of her condition hit her all at once – as she was only diagnosed in March 2018.

“I think I was only 28. Last year. It was pretty quick. I ‘d obviously had pain for a really long time, since high school,” The Wiggles’ Emma explains.
As a dancer, it was within her job description to “handle pain well”, but despite this, the performer says she realised something wasn’t right while she was on a national tour with The Wiggles.
“It was only when I was on the tour – I started bleeding every single day – I thought that was really bizarre,” she confirms.

Watkins’ needed emergency surgery, and the nature of the operation meant she had to take six weeks off from a hectic touring schedule alongside The Wiggles’ Anthony Field, Simon Pryce and Lachy Gillespie.
Shortly after her surgery, Watkins and husband Lachlan Gillespie decided to announce their separation.
It was a shock split after two years of marriage, leaving Watkins’ heartbroken.
Regardless, the 29-year-old says the whole time she was out, all she wanted to do was get back to work alongside him, proving the two co-stars have no bad blood.
“It’s so great having them and having Lachie as my best friend. I’m so lucky.”
