The Traitors has put audiences through some shock twists and turns recently, with two traitors eliminated and one faithful seduced to the dark side.
However, amidst traitor Alex Nation’s tearful banishment, AJ’s franchise-first gameplay, and traitor Alvin Quah’s betrayal, one player has emerged as a fan favourite.
Despite having heat on her since day one, traitor Kirby Bentley has managed to survive longer than her original traitor counterparts, and fans are loving every minute of her “hilarious” deception and “incredible game play”.
Speaking to WHO after her banishment, Alex revealed what Kirby was like as a player and ally, revealing just how much fans underestimated this former Survivor player from day one.
The fourth wall moment that has fans obsessed with Kirby
Recently, twins Josh and Luke Packham have been on a roll with traitor hunting, catching Alvin and Alex two nights in a row.
However, as their minds have been directed elsewhere, Kirby has gained Luke’s trust, feeding his ego and redirecting the twins’ sights elsewhere — a strategy fans have absolutely loved playing out on their screens.
Kirby’s cheekiness was particularly apparent after her and Luke’s one-on-one chat ended with a sly fourth-wall break where she smirked at the camera.
“This is taking me out,” one fan wrote online about the moment.
“I changed my mind about Kirby right at that moment,” another agreed. “She’s got all the moves and a good sense of humour to boot.”
“She’s very good at this game the smile at the end was hilarious,” a third commented.
While fans were initially sceptical of her, her ability to adapt with humour has changed fan sentiment.
“How Kirby has managed to get through all these round tables considering she’s been target since the first one is incredible game play,” one fan wrote.
“Love a fourth wall break. This was an iconic episode for Kirby.”
“Kirby is the best player left in the game, and she is playing with a group of players who do not have strategic instincts,” another viewer commented.
“She has honed her social and strategic craft against Survivor legends and, while The Traitors is a different game, she is a tier above everyone else this season. I still think it will be hard for her to win, but she is manoeuvring expertly right now.”
“Kirby always held the power in the conclave,” a third agreed.
After Luke’s “100% certain” guess of Claudia as the final traitor failed miserably, the twins’ winning streak has been put to rest.
Now, with newly recruited traitor Rhys by Kirby’s side, the twins have been subjected to a ‘Death Match’ where one will stay, and the other will be sent home.
It’s safe to say Kirby is always one step ahead.
‘I have so much respect for her as a player because she’s killing it’
After Alex’s banishment, the ex-traitor dished on what Kirby was like behind-the-scenes, explaining that while she’s definitely turned the ship around in recent episodes, she was a powerful player from the start.
“She’s so impressive because up until episode six, everyone’s been hot on Kirby,” Alex told WHO. “Kirby was the most spoken-about person in the Manor every single day.
“There wasn’t one faithful, I don’t think, that didn’t bring up Kirby. She was brought up by every single one of them at some point.
“The fact that she’s now got to this point where the most vocal person at Roundtable, which is Luke, is now totally convinced that Kirby’s been this setup thing for the traitors, I think it’s pretty phenomenal.”
Alex also commended how well Kirby carries herself.
“The way she carries herself, the way she keeps her cool,” she described. “Obviously we saw at the start, she was running around like a headless chook a little bit. She was paranoid. She was probably doing a little bit too much because she was panicky.
“So to see that play out up until this point, I have so much respect for her as a player because she’s killing it.”
Alex also revealed that the traitors are filming for far more hours than the faithfuls, and so it’s very easy for the fatigue to set in.
“I know what it means to be a traitor; I know how hard it is. We’re tired,” she said. “We do more hours than the faithfuls. We’re constantly trying to think about our game and what we have to do the next day.
“The fact that she’s been able to go through all of this, be so hot on everyone’s lips, and then sort of start to turn that around, it’s pretty impressive.”
