After successfully flipping a house (and earning $355,000 worth of prize money in the process), the House Rules teams got stuck into their first renovation of each other’s homes and the first cabs off the rank were Adelaide couple Jess and Jared. The pair was understandably nervous, with Jared telling host Johanna Griggs that he was “struggling to breathe a bit.”
The six teams were given their individual zones for reno but just as they got stuck into demolition, Johanna dropped a bomb. The host revealed that there is a bonus room, which will be given to one lucky team via a random draw.
The room, which must be completed in 3.5 days, could be a blessing or a curse for the chosen team, who have to follow the rule “make an epic space for footy and films”. The scoring of said space would come down to a pass or fail from homeowners Jess and Jared. If the team with the bonus room is awarded a pass, they receive an extra five points but if they fail, they lose five points.
Michelle pulled out the names of chippy brothers Josh and Brandon, much to their chagrin. Josh and Brandon were given a few moments to deliberate if they wanted to keep the room or if they wanted to hand it off to another team. “It is a bloody tough one,” remarked Josh as the pair weighed up their decision. “Handing it onto someone else could potentially mean the competition,” said Brandon.
In the end, the boys decided to keep the room but they are both fully aware of the consequences if they fail this task. “If we don’t pull it off we could be on the bottom,” said Brandon.
Let’s see how these brothers from Queensland handle the extra work!
