They appeared to have it all after finding love on Bachelor in Paradise and subsequently flaunting their PDAs on social media, but behind closed doors, Jarrod Woodgate reveals his relationship with Keira Maguire was far from perfect.
Jarrod, 32, ended things three weeks ago after nearly nine months of dating and here, in an exclusive interview with WHO, he shares his side of the story. As he explains, it was Keira’s obsession with social media that spelled the end.
“Being in the public eye, we made it look like we had a perfect relationship and that’s what people see on Instagram. I found myself turning into something I wasn’t [and] I couldn’t fake it anymore,” the Toms Cap Vineyard manager says.
“Her Instagram following is overwhelming and it was taking over our relationship. She’s purely Instagram-focused, and that takes up a lot of time.”
Working five days a week on the family farm, Jarrod claims when he and Keira, 32, would get together, he was not a priority. “I’d spend two days a week with her and it [was] basically all Instagram-based. It’s hard because you’re competing with 177,000 other people that follow her, but I shouldn’t have to compete,” he explains.
He added: “Keira is a beautiful woman and I had the best times I’ve had in my life with her. But I didn’t see it going anywhere. For me, it wasn’t a genuine connection because everything we did went through Instagram, and I’m a farm guy who hardly touches his phone.”
Jarrod reveals he has no plans to reconcile after Keira went public with secrets of their separation without consulting him first.
“Keira was still living in my house when she posted about our split on Instagram,” he says.
“I didn’t want the attention and when it came out, I had paparazzi on my arse. My family is going through a lot that nobody knows. We didn’t need this, and she knew that.”
