Katie Price shared some emotional news as she appeared on UK TV program Loose Women and broke down on air when discussing her mother, Amy Price’s diagnosis with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis – a condition with no cure.
Former Celebrity Big Brother star Price has had a difficult year, having lived through her boyfriend’s affair with their children’s nanny and then hearing of her mother’s terminal illness.
“Once you’re diagnosed it’s too late. It’s incurable. You don’t know how you get it,” the 39-year-old explained, while trying to hold back tears.
Price admitted the seriousness of her 60-year-old mother’s condition “hadn’t hit her” initially. She added: “My mum is getting worse. My mum had a cough for five years and thought it was asthma. How can my mum die? It might be my last Christmas with her.”
“She’s so healthy, she’s never smoked,” Katie insisted, before admitting: “I couldn’t see her for a few weeks and I had to explain to her I didn’t want to see her like that, I can’t see her growing old. She can’t see (the star’s son) Harvey turn 18, I love her so much.”
As the pressure built up, TV host Ruth Langsford escorted Price e out of the studio so she could cry in private.
Following her breakdown, the British panel resumed with just the presenters, with Denise Van Outen telling viewers: “[Katie’s] had a hard night. She hasn’t slept… she wanted to raise awareness.'”
The star has also shared an Instagram post to help encourage fans to fundraise for the disease that her mother is struggling with.
“Just like I love my mum so much but time is limited and running out due to her incurable lung condition IPF nothing in the world is important to me but love loyalty ❤️support @britishlungfoundation,” she shared alongside a snap of her mother.
Sending love to the star and her family during this difficult time.
