Michelle Bridges opens up about her controversial comments on 60 Minutes

Michelle Bridges has opened up to Allison Langdon on 60 Minutes in an emotional interview about how she became a household Australian name and touched on the difficult times she has experienced as a result.

The 47-year-old may be known for her role as The Biggest Loser trainer, but she said owes her humble beginnings on TV to none other than Kerri-Anne Kennerly, who took a chance on Bridges in the noughties and made her a regular guest on  ‘Mornings with Kerri-Anne’.

Following her stint on the Channel 9 hit show, Bridges made her way over to Channel Ten where she helped transform the bodies of ordinary Australians. And along the way, she met her now partner and father of her son Axel, Steve ‘Commando’ Willis.

Despite building her own fitness program, 12WBT, which has contributed to her net worth of $53 million, Bridges says using her voice on a large platform has its downfalls.

Shaming or accusing or vilifying or making people feel unimportant or unheard or invisible is not my mission, it is not what I’m about, it never has been.” 

Of course, she’s referring to caused to the controversy caused when she claimed that she was able to conceive naturally in her 40s due to her healthy lifestyle.

The star recalled the backlash she received on 60 Minutes, and revealed that she wasn’t aware of how rare her ‘unique’ miracle baby actually was and that she still believes her lifestyle “was probably a contributing factor.”

Still, “I can’t say that that’s the only factor,” she confirmed.

“I think that it was fortunate and quite extraordinary now from what I’m told, I had no idea, I had no idea that it was as unique as I’m told it was.”
